Leading LAWYER50 Islamic Finance
Dear Mohamed,
Over the past three months Lawyer Monthly has been busy compiling the shortlist for its prestigious Leading LAWYER 50 Islamic Finance list. The Leading LAWYER 50 Islamic Finance list recognises those in the legal community that have stood out from their peers by demonstrating professional achievement & excellence in their area of practice in 2011.
As the name suggests only 50 legal professionals across the globe make the list – this no compromise approach ensures the calibre of the entrants. Additionally this ‘quality control’ ensures that our readers have a reliable source of documented and published legal excellence. Entry into the
Leading LAWYER 50 list cannot be bought and no payment is required for entry.
‘‘The operations of Islamic banks are based on Islamic law and differ from conventional banks in terms of spirit, cultural background and practice. However, both conventional and Islamic banks operate in a globally integrated banking industry, which is characterised by strong competition and rapid changes in technology.’’ Dr Farhad Reyazat
Congratulations – You have gained official entry within the ‘Leading LAWYER 50 Islamic Finance 2011’ Guide.

The Research & Selection Process
Six point selection process.
To ensure fairness and accuracy Lawyer Monthly’s research department worked to a points based evaluation system which was applied to each person shortlisted for entry. One point was awarded for each of the criteria below:
1. Feedback from Lawyer Monthly readership surveys
2. Amount of documented activity in 2010/2011 when compared to industry peers
3. Previous accolades and entries within the international legal guides
4. Size (Dollar value) of involvement within transactions, deals & cases
5. Involvement in significant legal cases and legal activity
6. Peer recognition and personal achievement
This extensive research was undertaken by the Lawyer Monthly research team from January 10th 2011 to 24th June 2011. 7500 thousand electronic nomination forms were distributed to a selection of our readers of which 14.69% were received back. Of the 14.69% received, 1.8% was discarded as they were either incomplete or deemed to be excessive in terms of praise and which no supporting evidence was supplied. This left a data sample group of 1081.
Of the final 1081, 100 were put forward to form the shortlist and then consequently underwent the six point selection process as detailed above.
The Leading LAWYER 50 Islamic Finance supplement will appear in the September 2011 edition of Lawyer Monthly and all 50 lawyers will automatically be indexed within the publication at no cost. This includes – entrant name, firm name and practice area.
