Wearing hijab – Compulsion, option or willingness?

Wearing hijab – Compulsion, option or willingness?

  December 15,2009

Salam to all,

Male or female. Please participate and discuss.

What do u think based on our Muslims people nowadays?

If we see it as compulsion, why is it so?

If its an option, probably its the modern options, fashionable one or the preferred one

Willingness – Please share how many people are willing.

My point of view:

Islam is appropriate for all ages. So there’s no changes in which age u are. As a matter of fact islamic dress is appropriate for modern and civilized people too

Please share about the constraints of getting job due to Hijab. The main reason i create this topic is because of this. I heard from a friend saying something like below

Muslim women report that the issue of attire comes up most often in
the initial interview for a job. Some interviewers will ask if the
prospective employee plans to wear the scarf to work. Others may
inappropriately inquire about religious practices or beliefs. Sometimes
the prospective employee, feeling pressure to earn a living, will take
off the scarf for the interview and then put it on when hired for the
job. Modest dress should not be equated with incompetence.

Let us bear in mind the verse below :)

[Chapter 24, verses 30-31Also, “O Prophet! Tell thy wives and
daughters, and the believing women, that they should cast their outer
garments over their persons…that they should be known and not
molested.”
 [Chapter 33, verse 59]

PS: I am not an ustaz yet to discuss on this however we should remember one thing on what Umar r.a said “Its not important who says it, the content is what we should pay attention to
